Trey Azagthoth junto a Mike Browning y David Vincent comienzan un grupo musical llamado Morbid Angel con el disco Abominations of Desolation, pero este no sería sacado hasta varios años más tarde, por lo que su primer disco oficial es Altars of Madness, editado en 1989, que con sus guitarras y la voz de Vincent lo hicieron un sonido nuevo y llamativo dentro del estilo.

Como dato curioso, el nombre de sus discos están ordenados por orden alfabético según la fecha de creación, ademas en el disco Formulas Fatal To The Flesh tiene tres letras F que significa 666 ya que la letra F es la sexta en el abecedario.
