La banda Control Denied fue formada por Chuck Schuldiner, creando un estilo progresivo / power metal, mezclado con elementos de death metal reconocibles de su anterior banda: Death. La banda comenzó en 1996. El proyecto fue interrumpido por la gabacion y lanzamiento del disco de Death: The Sound of Perseverance en 1998, pero finalmente el álbum debut fue lanzado en 1999. Un segundo álbum, provisionalmente titulado When Man And Machine Collide, se registro en parte, pero la muerte de Schuldiner en 2001 dejo las grabaciones en suspenso. Los restantes miembros de la banda han expresado el deseo de completar este trabajo. Sin embargo, todavía existe una controversia jurídica sobre los derechos del material con Karmageddon Media.
